We’re thrilled to share this inspiring video from Allen Parish, part of Louisiana Public Schools, where SPIRE reading intervention program has made a big post-pandemic difference. We love the meaningful messages from Allen Parish Superintendent Kent Reed and all the amazing educators and students in the video, and we feel gratified to be part of their success story. This video is a perfect example of why we keep working hard to change lives by helping kids learn to read. Literacy opens doors to opportunities, enabling students to succeed in school and in life. We’re honored to be featured in this video and to be part of Allen Parish’s story of growth, success, and joy.

According to Kent Reed, Superintendent of the Allen Parish School Board, the parish enrolls around 4,300 students with a dedicated staff of around 350 certificated educational professionals across 11 public schools.

Check out a few quotes from featured speakers in the video:

  • “This literacy program is huge,” said Kimberly Caldarera, of Allen Parish Community Healthcare.
  • “It helps me read better and understand what I’m reading,” said Aryn Bandy, Oakdale Middle School Student.
  • “We want to produce citizens who can continue to build and help our community, and literacy goes a long way,” said Kristen Victorian, Oakdale Middle School Master Teacher.
  • “We come to work every day because we love our students. Love and literacy: those are the foundations,” said Rebecca Habetz, Kinder Middle School Teacher.
  • “The sky is the limit. It’s really taking off. Kids see themselves grow, and parents see their kids grow and want to read. It’s very exciting, what’s going on in Allen Parish,” said Kent Reed, Superintendent of the Allen Parish School Board.
