This webinar defines phonics and phonics instruction, and it brings to light the importance of incorporating phonics instruction with phonology. With the science in mind, participants will explore scope and sequences for instruction that can support the needs of all students. The necessity for instruction that leads to automaticity through the brain (orthographic mapping) is defined. Diagnostic assessment procedures are discussed. You will also explore the most effective word-reading approaches. Instructional practices that are determined by current reading research to align to established best practices are presented throughout.
